About me
Hey there 👋🏻!
I’m Lilly, a 1st year PhD student in Computational Neuroscience at the University of Oxford. I’m interested in understanding learning in both biological systems (such as humans) and artificial systems (such as AI). I believe that by integrating neuroscience and machine learning, and drawing on insights from each, we can advance our understanding of learning in both.
Prior to moving to Oxford, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Munich. Alongside my studies, I was fortunate to gain experience as a research assistant in the following groups:
- Dynamical Inference Lab (PI: Dr. Steffen Schneider); ongoing collaboration
- Computation in Neural Circuits Group (PI: Prof. Julijana Gjorgjieva)
- Theis Lab (PI: Prof. Fabian Theis; main supervisor: Lukas Heumos)
- Decision and Bayesian Computation Lab (PI: Dr. Jean-Baptiste Masson)
- Zielinski Lab (PI: Prof. Christina Zielinski)
In addition to conducting research in machine learning, I aim to make the field more accessible to others. That’s why I’m involved in the German non-profit organization KI macht Schule (AI at school), where we teach high school students about artificial intelligence.
